For more than 70 years, Operation Noel has looked out for some of El Paso, Las Cruces and Borderland area’s neediest children.
The charity has evolved over the years, but its primary mission today is to provide new winter coats to more than 20,000 children in the region whose families cannot afford them. This is made possible by community donations from both individuals and businesses. 100% of your donations go toward buying new coats, which is approximately $350,000.00, or $17.50 per coat.
As Operation Noel is a non-profit organization, our funds are raised through collaborative efforts with the HUB International, Mattress Firm, El Paso Times, and a mini-telethon on KVIA ABC-7. Our main fundraising campaign is done throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season, but donations are accepted year-round.
Operation Noel is one of the only nonprofit charities in the area that allocate 100% of donations to its cause. Everyone who works with us does so on a volunteer basis, so there is absolutely no overhead expense.
For many children in our area, we are their only hope for a new winter coat. Over the years, we see Operation Noel coats being passed on to younger children in the family. The children who receive the coats are identified by area social workers, educators and school counselors.
